Nearly back up and sync

Back up and sync is a storage service that automatically saves your photos and videos to your Google Account. These photos and videos will be accessible from whatever device where y'all are logged into your account.

Benefits

  • Never lose a memory: Whatsoever photos you lot take from a device with backup enabled will be saved to your Google Business relationship.
  • Automatic sync: Whatever edits you make or photos you take will be accessible across whatever device that you sign in to. If yous edit and salvage a photograph on your phone, the photo will expect the same on Google Photos.
  • Fast and powerful search: You lot tin search your photos by the people (when yous've enabled face up grouping), places, and things in them. No tagging is required.
  • Automatic creations: Bring photos to life with automatically created movies, collages, animations, and panoramas.

Before you get started

What you need to back up photos & videos

  • Good cyberspace connection.
  • File sizes that tin can be backed upwardly.  Your files won't be backed upward if they are:
    • Photos larger than 200 MB or 150 MP
    • Videos larger than ten GB.
    • Items smaller than 256 ten 256.
  • File types that can exist backed up.
    • Photos: .jpg, .heic, .png, .webp, .gif, and some RAW files.
    • Live photos can be backed up if yous use the Google Photos app on your iPhone or iPad.
    • Videos: .mpg, .modern, .mmv, .tod, .wmv, .asf, .avi, .divx, .mov, .m4v, .3gp, .3g2, .mp4, .m2t, .m2ts, .mts, and .mkv files.

If you attempt to dorsum up a file blazon not listed hither, it may not piece of work with Google Photos.

Important: Your Google Business relationship storage is shared across multiple products similar Google Photos, Google Drive, and Gmail. If yous have used all of your storage, you won't be able to back up new files.

Plough support & sync on or off

Before you first, brand sure you're signed in.

  • Choose the Google Business relationship to support photos and videos: Under "Backup account", tap the account name.
  • Modify your upload size: Tap Upload size. Learn more than near upload sizes.
  • Dorsum upward device folders: Tap Back up device folders and select the folders y'all want to back upwardly.
  • Back up on mobile data: If you don't want to wait for Wi-Fi to back upward your videos, under "Cellular data usage," tapVideos. Charges from your service provider may employ if y'all upload using your mobile network.
  • Support while roaming: In Photos, open Settings and tap Support & sync and then Cell information usage and turn on Back up while roaming.

Dorsum upward with unrestricted data

Some mobile operators provide access to 'unrestricted mobile information,' which is information that doesn't count towards operator quotas or limits. This option is currently available to some users on operators like Verizon and AT&T in the United states of america. If you employ one of these operators, you may see an option that enables backup for 'Wi-Fi and unrestricted mobile data'.

Important: Access to unrestricted information may be express to 5G.

Important: Back upwards & sync might not work well if you have battery optimization turned on for the Photos app. If yous take this issue, you lot can turn off battery optimization.

Check if your photos are backed up

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open up the Google Photos app Photos.
  2. Sign in to your Google Business relationship.
  3. At the top right, tap your account profile photo or initial.
  4. You can view if backup is complete or if you have items in look to back up. Larn how to fix backup bug.

Costs to back upwards

Equally of June ane, 2021, whatever new photos or videos you dorsum up in Storage saver quality (previously named High quality) or Express quality will count toward your Google Account storage. Photos and videos backed up in Original quality will continue to count toward your Google Business relationship storage. Larn more than near photo and video backup options.

Each Google Account comes with 15 GB of storage.

Bank check your Google Account storage.

Important: Any photos or videos you've backed up in High quality or Express quality earlier June 1, 2021 won't count toward your Google Business relationship storage.
